Collaborative Research and Evaluation

Summarizing Research Evidence

We have helped develop What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) practice guides, translating research on effective educational policies and practices into actionable recommendations for educators. We have also led systematic literature reviews and developed annotated bibliographies on a range of topics for local and state education agencies, providing a concise summary of key research findings.

Developing Useful Data and Measurement Tools

We have experience developing survey instruments and measurement tools for use with youth, including a network-based tool to measure youth social capital in the context of postsecondary transitions and a tool to capture high school students’ classroom and school experiences with competency-based learning.

Understanding and Improving Implementation

We have designed and carried out collaborative research and evaluation projects with district and state education agency partners and with non-profit youth organizations, helping them understand the current status of program implementation and directions for productive growth and improvement. This work has included a focus on programs ranging from early learning access for multilingual children to college preparation for first-generation youth in urban contexts.

Evaluating Impact

We have overseen research using a range of designs, including large statewide randomized controlled trials, intended to provide evidence about how district or statewide policy changes impacted student and teacher outcomes.
